Archives for June, 2008

Reclaimed an old friend.

Yesterday, I reclaimed an old domain that I thought I had lost a few years ago – liljeqvi.st.

I registered it on a whim back in 2000 and discovered last week that it had not expired as I thought but instead was still very much active and registered to me – for 25 years. Quite a nice surprise. There is nothing like starting off a new week with a new alternate email address – anders@liljeqvi.st. :)

Upcoming Travel Arrangements

On more of a personal note; I just bought a round-the-world ticket with Virgin Atlantic. The first part of the journey will see me fly London to Mumbai on July 26, Mumbai to Singapore on August 16 and lastly Singapore to Sydney on August 26.

For those in the market for a good round-the-world ticket, I have to recommend Virgin’s “Great Escapade” package that they arrange together with Singapore Airlines and Air New Zealand. I shopped around a bit before my trip and ended up saving SEK 8000 (USD 1300) on buying the ticket from Virgin instead of going for the same product with Star Alliance (even after having upgraded one of the sectors to Premium Economy). Through my earlier job with Boeing I spent a year as a consultant for Virgin Atlantic 3 years ago and am really looking forward to flying with them for the first time.

I quite look forward to spending a few weeks in India – I have flown past it many times but never visited.

The trip will see me spend a week in and around Mumbai and then end with almost two weeks in Goa. I have booked a bungalow on Palolem Beach and intend to not do much more than read books, take lots of photos and chillax. And send annoying postcards to friends who are still working, of course. Empirical studies show that there is nothing better in life than kindly informing your stressed out friends that you are on holiday and they are not.

With the Wolfs

At my friends Lukasz’ house, with Emma (foreground) and my godson Anton. Most enjoyable.

More Changes

Karin and David having afternoon drinks in Newtown a couple of months ago.

More changes behind the scenes of liljeqvist.com; today I uploaded a few more photo albums to the photo sets section.

I have also (after much headache) managed to get remote blogging going on liljeqvist.com and am writing this via the excellent remote blogging application Scribefire. Being able to post entries directly from my desktop without having to navigate the cumbersome admin interface of the blog system that I am using is something that will let me post more easily in the future.

A Fork In The Road

Summer cleaning at liljeqvist.com. I have decided to fork this blog into two; one photo log more focused on showcasing my photography and another, more traditional, personal weblog. The weblog will be an outlet for more informal, personal posts (such as snaps from a weekend with friends or a trip somewhere) and perhaps the occasional link posting which will free up the photolog for more high-quality photography.

For those of you reading liljeqvist.com via news readers such as Google Reader, the feeds you want to subscribe to are http://www.liljeqvist.com/xml-rss2.php?blogid=5 for the photography-focused feed and http://www.liljeqvist.com/xml-rss2.php?blogid=1 for the weblog.

Both journals will be updated sporadically. The photolog will feature larger, 700-pixel photos (addressing another frustration I have had with the older weblog), whilst the weblog will retain the current format and inherit all old photo journal entries.
